Here are some reactions to recent tours:
"I am writing to thank you for once again being
so responsive to my third year undergraduate social work students
last term who were taking a required course on community social
work practice.... The warm welcome you provided and the overview
of the history of the Gallery highlighted the crucial educational
and scholarly role of a university art gallery. Your generosity,
enthusiasm, and interest in students has made my class visits to
the McIntosh a highlight of each Academic year for me."
~ Allan Irving
Professor and Coordinator at the Centre for Creativity at King's
University College.
"Your warm welcome and introduction to the
exhibition were very useful to have us all in the right set of mind,
and to help us realize all the different artistic facets we could
appreciate in the gallery
. By attending the exhibition my
students were able to appreciate a real life example of native American
Language recreation that combined Mohawk pictograms, art and an
ingenuous link to technology
. I believe visiting the Gallery
was a very positive experience for all of us, but especially for
my students who have now discovered a new spot on campus where classroom
learning may come alive."
~Patricia Bayona
Linguistics Professor, French Studies Department.
"Thank you for hosting a visit from my "Introduction
to Museum Studies" class to the McIntosh Gallery and for facilitating
a session on the role and operations of an art museum
. This
visit has made them [the students] aware of a wonderful resource
that is available to them right on campus, and they indicated that
they would now be likely to make repeat visits
. Thank you
for taking us "Behind the Scenes," for sharing your time,
your knowledge, and also your enthusiasm with us!"
~Dr Aldona Sendzikas
Assistant Professor, History Department
