Let's Talk Collections: Reviewing the Collection

Let's Talk Collections: Reviewing the Collection—What Stays, what goes, and what does it all mean?
Saturday, October 3, 2 pm - 3 pm
John Labatt Visual Arts Centre, Room 247
Have you ever wondered how museums and galleries decide what to collect? We are always making decisions about which works to accept, which have had the mot sustained impacts, and which may no longer be a good fit. Join Rachel Deiterding, Curator of Collections and Special Projects, for a look inside ongoing work to review the 4,350 artworks in the McIntosh Gallery collection and chart a sustainable path for the collection's future growth and development.
Let's Talk Collections is a public conversation series that makes visible behind-the-scenes work with the collection, with a focus on the ongoing multi-year collections audit and review process.
This talk is presented in partnership with Cultivating Sustainable Collections. Hosted by the Centre for Sustainable Curating, Cultivating Sustainable Collections is a gathering focused on advancing sustainable practices in collection management and preventive conservation.
