February 25 - May 1, 2026

Weldon Library, Exhibition Space RM 113

What happens before and during pregnancy shapes health not just for a lifetime, but for generations to come. The Art of Creation makes this science visible.

This arts-based knowledge translation exhibition emerged from a unique residency program where eight Hamilton-based artists embedded in a McMaster University research laboratory. They observed experiments, engaged with scientists studying early development, and created works, paintings, sculpture, rap, dance, and multimedia, that translate the molecular biology of pregnancy and fetal development into forms that resonate with broad audiences. The result demonstrates how art can break through traditional information silos, making complex science accessible in ways that lectures and textbooks often cannot.

The Art of Creation now comes to Western University through a partnership with McIntosh Gallery, Western Libraries, and Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry.

The exhibition will be open during library hours until May 2026.
